In Therapy, Ms. Pamela Hand, LCSW, CAP, CTT can help you to address:
This is NOT how you envisioned your life.
You’re feeling frustrated, often angry with yourself for the anxious, fearful, and depressing thoughts you feel that you can’t seem to gain control of. As hard as you try, you can’t seem to get ahead of the feelings and emotions that linger, just close enough to keep you worrying about tomorrow. Therapy can help.
You feel like your past and the things you’ve been through are just tagging along, constantly creating stress on your life today, and you’re ready to put them aside for more effective, more pleasant thoughts and emotions.
It’s time to take back your life and your happiness. I can help you to begin to process and address the following conditions in Therapy:
- Grief and Loss
- Social Anxiety
- Childhood Sexual Abuse
- Domestic Violence
- Sexual Abuse Disorders
- Substance Use Disorders
- Difficulties with Shame, Relationships, Self Esteem, Compulsive Behaviors and Spirituality issues
Change is possible and can last a lifetime.
More than anything, you want to begin to see yourself as you used to: Happy, Healthy, and Whole.
In Therapy, I will help you process the pains of your past, while looking into your future and planning for what you want that future to look like. We will work together to develop goals and the skills and processes to grow into the person you want to be, (the person you’re meant to be), and leave the hurts and hang-ups of a past that hasn’t benefitted you behind.
Our time together will be guided by your goals and your specific needs in each session, as will my response and utilization of therapeutic techniques. As you find improvements in your mood and overall stability, we will expect to see improved relationships, more confidence, a healthier outlook on life, and increased happiness day-to-day.
Often under the Anxiety and Depressive symptoms or problematic behaviors is unresolved Trauma.
Here are some of the Therapy Tools that I may use in therapy with you:
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) an evidenced-based psychotherapy that uses BLS bilateral stimulation and eye movement to guide the patient through painful emotional, relationship, and physical pain to assist them in reprocessing unprocessed thoughts, feelings and behaviors trapped in unconscious memories. The process helps to reduce the distress and strengthen adaptive beliefs related to the trauma.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a short term, goal oriented treatment to assist patients in reducing stress related to negative thought processes that lead to negative feelings and problematic behaviors that lead to negative consequences. With the use of CBT, the therapist assists patients to identify the irrational thought patterns, redevelop positive thoughts that lead to improved emotional states and improved life outcomes.
The Trauma Egg
The Trauma Egg is an effective therapeutic method for patients to tell their emotional trauma to assist patients in uncovering their unconscious beliefs, process them and then gain new perspectives through the telling of their experiences.
Trauma Incident Reduction Therapy (TIR)
Trauma Incident Reduction Therapy (TIR) a rapid method of effectively reducing traumatic stress both emotionally and physically to desensitize painful experiences. The therapist leads the patient through a structured method to assist the patient in recalling the traumatic events and address the untreated emotional wound.
Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)
Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) is a chronological telling of the patient’s life story. By writing and then telling the story, the patient fills in the details of the fragmentary memories. Using this method, the patient offers the therapist details otherwise unknown. In turn, the patient is led by the therapist to reprocess and reinterpret the past painful experiences.
Experiential Therapy uses expressive tools and activities to assist the patient in accessing unresolved emotional pain. Vehicles are varied. The use of Role play, art therapy, music therapy, guided imagery, and recreational activities can all help the patient access unwanted emotions associated with self-esteem, fear of success, disappointment, loss, etc. utilizing these tools helps the patient release negative feelings of shame, fear, anger, hurt that may have been blocked for long periods of time.
Logotherapy is based on finding the individual’s desire for meaning of life. The therapist guides the patient in recognizing the important aspects of life and determining the current satisfaction level in these identified areas and identify where the patient wants to be and then using problem solving to make a plan for the patient to attain the greatest level of satisfaction.
Gottman Couples Therapy
Gottman Couples Therapy provides a thorough assessment of the couple and utilizes interventions to assist the relationship in disarming conflicts and break through barriers to increase intimacy and understanding of each other and for their relationship.
